Situated in New Brunswick’s Appalachian Mountain region, Sugarloaf Provincial Park is the perfect destination for a family-friendly getaway or wilderness adventure. Hike to the summit of Sugarloaf Park’s 305-m (1,000-ft.) mountain and see the city of Campbellton spread out below. The junction of Chaleur Bay and the Restigouche River creates a waterscape of exceptional beauty, and the rolling hills of the Gaspé Peninsula in Quebec on the other side of the water will have you in awe.
This park contains more than 25 km (16 mi.) of hiking and biking trails, with the 4-km (2.5-mi.) The Terry Fox Trail winds around the base of the mountain. Sugarloaf’s downhill bike park offers Atlantic Canada’s only lift-service mountain bike park. Trails range from beginner to expert, and they’re jam-packed with berms, table tops, drops, step-ups and wooden features. The park’s spacious ski lodge features a licensed restaurant.
The lodge is available for business meetings, weddings and other private functions. During the summer, visitors have the option of staying in Sugarloaf Provincial Park’s wooded campground. The family-friendly campground has 80 beautiful sites: 8 full-serviced, 61 electrical (including five cabins and 6 Ch-A-lets) and 11 non-serviced. Sugarloaf also offers a playground, tennis courts, hiking and picturesque lakes for you to enjoy.
