Located on our farm in Lac La Biche County, Alberta, Wildly Eweneek Cabins (WEC) is a family-run guest ranch with Eweneek accommodations. With an exceptional Bortle 2 dark sky, we are lucky to be in a Dark Sky Preserve for excellent Northern Lights viewing. We have an abundance of wildlife!

During daylight hours, the landscape around Wildly Eweneek Cabins invites slow exploration and deep immersion in nature. Rolling boreal terrain, open fields, and forest edges create prime conditions for wildlife encounters. Guests regularly observe deer, moose, foxes, owls, and a wide variety of bird species, making the area a rewarding destination for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking a quieter, more grounded experience. Open skies, and expansive horizons encourage reflection, adventure, and a sense of space that is increasingly hard to find. A private network of trails over 10km awaits guests, these become groomed Nordic ski trails in winter. The area is also home to excellent year-round fishing, summer and winter festivals/concerts/events and there are 11 golf courses within 1hr of WEC.
As evening falls, Wildly Eweneek Cabins truly come alive. The region’s exceptionally dark skies reveal dazzling views of the Milky Way, planets, and deep-sky objects with the naked eye. Auroras are common, and remarkably active, often filling the sky with dynamic curtains of green, pink, and violet light dancing overhead. Whether watched from the comfort of the cabin or outdoors under the stars, the northern lights here are not a rare event—they are part of the experience.
